How It Works
At-Home Saliva Test
This test is intended for use under the Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) authorized on July 10, 2020. This saliva test and saliva collection device is FDA-authorized for at-home self-collection. Testing is limited to P23 Labs, LLC (P23) or other laboratories designated by P23 Labs, LLC that are also certified under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C. §263a, and meet requirements to perform high complexity tests.
Simple to Use
Fill out a quick online form and scan the barcode on your test. This PCR test detects specific genes from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is the virus that causes COVID-19.
Everything You Need
Included is the P23 Labs TaqPath SARS-CoV-2 Assay test, as well as a pre-addressed return label, return packaging, and detailed instructions.
Interpreting Your Results
My test is positive. What should I do next?
If you have a positive test result, this indicates that you were infected with the virus at the time that you produced the saliva sample.
If you are having mild symptoms, per guidance from the CDC, you should self-quarantine. You are presumed to be contagious.
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19, including, but not limited to, trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion or the inability to arouse, and/or bluish lips or face, you should seek immediate medical attention.
My test came back negative. Does this mean I can't have the coronavirus?
A negative test result means that the virus that causes COVID-19 was not found in your sample. However, that does not mean you will not get sick. The test result only means that you did not have COVID-19 at the time of testing.
You might test negative if the sample was collected early in your infection and test positive later during your illness. You could also be exposed to COVID-19 after the test and get infected then.
If you do have symptoms of any illness, you should contact your healthcare provider, who will take into account these test results along with your symptoms and your medical history.
My test came back as inconclusive. What does this mean?
An unclear, void, borderline, or inconclusive result means it's not possible to say if you had coronavirus when the test was done.
If you have symptoms consistent with the virus or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive, get another test as soon as possible.
If you took a test because you had symptoms or had exposure to the virus, you must keep self-isolating. If you’re not able to have another test, you must self-isolate for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started.
